Chili Cook-Off Winners: Tristan Bland, Shelly Myers, and Jon Logan.
Crown Chili Cook-Off!
Crown had their annual Chili cook-off last month and there were plenty of participants competing for the “Golden Gobbler” trophy. The participants included Darin Mangan, Gabe Jacobson, Jon Logan, Thadd Church, Shelly Myers, Kelly Glaze, and Tristan Bland. Tristan has won the last four competitions but he definitely had his hands full this year. This year’s judges were Ted Ross, Laura Augustine, and Keegan Taylor. After a long deliberation the competition ended with a tie for first place as well as a tie for 3rd place. Tristan would prevail, winning by split decision, putting newcomer to the chili cook-off Shelly in second place. Jon Logan also won his tie which landed him in third place. In the post cook-off interviews Shelly explained that her kids were who pushed her to join the competition, and since her pot was the first to be finished it looks like they had a point. Chili Cook-off champion Tristan only pointed to his winning chili.

Teacher of the Month
Crown is proud to be one of the co-sponsors of the WOW! Teacher of the Month Award. In the month of December the award was presented to Eudora High School teacher Nate Robinson. He has used fundraisers to raise money for the equipment needed for their special class projects. He has also taken his students to video competitions, developed the Eudora video club, and created a YouTube channel for the club in order to make the club’s hard work available for everyone to see. Mr. Robinson has a chance to be selected “Teacher of the Year”, win a cash prize for himself and Eudora High School, as well as a free car for a year courtesy of Crown Automotive!
Kaw Valley Eagles Day
On January 14th Free State High School hosted the Jayhawk Audubon Kaw Valley Eagles day. Hundreds of children and parents filed into free state to see a multitude of different animals native to Kansas as well as learn about wildlife conservation. Kids were able to interact with snakes, turtles, and many different species of birds. They also got the chance to take a trip to Clinton Lake to go on an eagle watching tour where they could view and photograph the eagles that are nesting nearby. The event started at 8 a.m. and continued until about 4 p.m. For more information about the event as well as the next Eagle day visit their website kawvalleyeaglesday.com.

Not only did he come in and help but he also did an exceptional job, attending to twelve cars when the average number is seven. Special recognition also goes to Ryan Wingert, Sean Khalist, Joe Higdon, Stephanie Turner, and Keegan Taylor for doing an exceptional job last month.
